Robo-PumpTM
Intended for scientific and industrial applications requiring precision metered bi-directional fluidic control. Modes of operation include constant flow, volume, pressure to single-step micro dispensing. Typical applications include dispensing, mixing, chemical prescription, “weed & feed” of cell colonies, sample collection, solution preparation or any other task requiring precise bi-directional control. The bi-directional nature of the pump lends itself to many applications that other pumps would not be suitable for. This feature enables computer controlled suck-back, purging, and mixing during liquid dispensing. In vacuum pickup applications, blow-off capability eliminates the need for bleed valves and presents a more reliable release procedure. "Robo-Pump"TM offers several advantages over other types of peristaltic pumps because it operates under positional control rather than timed interval. Fluid is metered by sweeping the rotor over a precise predetermined angle, so there is no calibration and no guess-work. Resolution is typically 1/200 (fast dispensing) to 1/6400 (minimum pulsation) of a pump revolution per step. "Robo-Pump"TM uses poly-phase synchronous DC brushless motors, which offer distinct advantages over traditional pump motors including: no brush contamination, unlimited stall, adjustable torque (over-pressure protection), safe low voltage operation and direct computer control. Intelligent pump control is provided by The Motion Group’s MMC motion control/driver system. Features include adjustable torque (over-pressure protection), ramped acceleration/deceleration (no foaming) and general-purpose I/O functions for valves, indicators, switches and sensors. The motor amplifiers feature reduced current during standstill (minimum product heating), built-in braking (no back pressure creep), and torque release (free mode). On-board non-volatile program memory allows the pump to be used for stand-alone repetitive tasks. The controller also interfaces with any computer for interactive real-time tasks (when interfaced with popular control/data acquisition software such as LabViewTM) or user-interactive tasks under keyboard control. Multiple units can be networked together for coordinated control. "Robo-Pump"TM is available in multiple motor frame sizes and stack lengths. Torque ranges from 40 to 1300 oz-in handling any hose diameter or pressure requirements with ease. Contact The Motion Group for specifications based on your specific requirements.
Robo-PumpTMis a typical element in The Motion Group's nanoscopic "Build-A-Lab"TM system. Other components available include robotic “Nano-Motion” TM stages, picoliter resolution syringe pumps, tip/pipette micro-actuators, motion controllers and network controllers. Kits and complete systems for custom research lab applications are available. |
